In the 3rd book in the series, Allie Babcock tries to help Maggie, a golden retriever with separation anxiety. But the reason she is hired by Ken Culberson, Maggies owner, is because he believes that he killed his wife and that Maggie is channeling her spirit.

After Allie discovers that Maggie has been hiding human bones in Kens yard, he decides to make Allie the dogs legal guardian in case anything should happen to him. She soon finds out after Ken is murdered that he was a millionaire and left all his money to Maggie and left Allie the job of figuring out who Maggies new owner should be.

Now so many people - family, friends, neighbors, and even Maggies Vet all seem to think they would be the best owner for Maggie and Allie has decided she will not make a decision until the killer is put behind bars, even if that means putting herself in danger.
